How is Cornerstone Medical Center different from an urgent care facility?

The emergency department at Cornerstone Medical Center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, whereas most urgent care centers are open for 8 – 16 hours per day. The Cornerstone team is capable of treating all urgent and emergent medical conditions, including those beyond the typical scope of urgent care centers, such as:

  • Heart Attacks
  • Strokes
  • Respiratory Distress
  • Head Injuries
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Dehydration
  • Orthopedic/Sports Injuries
  • Lacerations
Am I required to provide payment prior to being treated?

The Cornerstone Medical Center team is committed to treating every patient in need. Consistent with requirements of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (“EMTALA”), Cornerstone Medical Center will treat all emergency department patients regardless of their ability to pay, including a medical screening examination and appropriate stabilizing treatment as required by EMTALA.

Why are some patients seen before other patients?

Often in an emergency care situation, patients are not treated according to arrival time but rather according to the severity of the medical condition.
